5 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this 12-week course, students will meet once a week to listen to a new chapter of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. Approximately 5-10 minutes of the class will be spent discussing the silly question given at the end of class from the week before and the weekly "Something Curious" sharing time when each child will be encouraged to share "Something Curious" that they learned, or something silly they may have seen or heard. Then I will read a chapter from the book aloud while the learners listen and color if they so choose. I will provide one or more coloring sheets every week for learners to either color during class or after. The coloring sheets will be illustrations by Sir John Tenniel from the original book. At the end of class I will ask a silly question that students will think about while outside of class and then share their answer at the start of the next class. The question may be something like, "If you were trapped on an island and had to pick one Alice's Adventures in Wonderland character to keep you company, who would you pick and why?" Here is the schedule for club meetings: Week #1 - Chapter 1: Down the Rabbit Hole Week #2 - Chapter 2: The Pool of Tears Week #3 - Chapter 3: A Caucus Race and a Long Tale Week #4 - Chapter 4: The Rabbit Sends in a Little Bill Week #5 - Chapter 5: Advice From a Caterpillar Week #6 - Chapter 6: Pig and Pepper Week #7 - Chapter 7: A Mad Tea Party Week #8 - Chapter 8: The Queen's Croquet Ground Week #9 - Chapter 9: The Mock Turtle's Story Week #10 - Chapter 10: The Lobster Quadrille Week #11 - Chapter 11: Who Stole the Tarts? Week #12 - Chapter 12: Alice's Evidence On the final day of class I will present awards to the book in categories that might include things like: "Best Character," "Most Exciting Chapter," "Most Unpleasant Character," etc.

Parental Guidance
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland may contain themes and terms that are inappropriate/outdated. For example, the use of the word "mad" in describing the character of the Hatter. I encourage all parents to read the book ahead of their learners so that they may determine whether it is appropriate for their child, or whether they should discuss themes and terms within the text outside of class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a recent M.F.A. in Screenwriting graduate who just loves to tell stories and make miniatures! I have loved telling stories since I was a young child performing at storytelling events, and have continued to be a storyteller across many jobs. I worked in three separate departments during my near six-year employment at the Disneyland Resort, including Guest Relations where I excelled in giving tours of the park. But it would not be my only time as a tour guide. Since then I have also given guided tours of both Warner Bros. Studios and Paramount Pictures, and have worked in the post-production department of a television production company. I recently returned to school to earn my Master of Fine Arts in Screenwriting degree, with which I aspire to be a professional screenwriter someday.
I have been a teacher on Outschool since 2020, with current class topics including: Playdough miniature cake-making and Fairytale Fill-in-the-Blanks parts of speech practice. My teaching philosophy is simple: If the lesson is taught with enthusiasm and passion, no matter the subject, the student will be receptive to learning. I believe in building kids up, striving to incite excitement for the subject matter, and always doing my utmost to make them feel respected as learners. I believe in laughing and creating, and I believe in the power that comes with being a critical thinker. It is my goal to facilitate laughter, encourage creativity, and instill critical thinking skills within my students in a way that gives them confidence and makes their learning experiences with me memorable.
