During this class, we will read a book by Heidi Poelman through Vook called "Inventors Who Changed the World." We will learn about who they are, what they invented, and why. We will then use their stories to ignite my students' imaginations and get them thinking about something they would like to invent! In college, I received my Bachelor of Art in History, with a focus on elementary education. After college, I spent the next 20 years as a teacher in a brick and mortar school. I started out in the elementary setting teaching all of the subjects, but I quickly moved up to the middle school where I spent a few years teaching English. Over the last decade, I was exclusively a 7th and 8th-grade history teacher. I taught Ancient History and American History. I feel very comfortable in this area and pride myself on making, what can be considered a dry subject, interesting, engaging, and relevant to the elementary and teenage person.
Nothing mandatory, but it will be suggested to go off and make plans for an invention of their own.
