In this class, students will learn many strategies for solving sudoku puzzles. We will collaborate and work as a team to solve sudoku puzzles while making new friends along the way!
Class experience
Sudoku is my favorite kind of puzzle! Sudoku uses the positioning of numbers in a grid to foster spatial reasoning, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. These important brain functions are necessary in upper level math and science classes. Sudoku puzzles come in many sizes and levels of difficulty. In this class we will focus on the standard 9x9 size sudoku. Sudoku puzzles come in varying difficulties. In this class, we will look at sudoku puzzles of easy difficulty. I believe...
Students will learn four basic strategies to solve sudo puzzles of the “easy” difficulty level. Students will learn to logically identify how numbers fit into a sudoku puzzle together using critical thinking skills. Students will learn how to communicate and explain why numbers can only fit into certain boxes of a sudoku puzzle using reasoning skills.
I first learned how to solve these puzzles when I was in middle school and it's been a match made in heaven ever since. I love sudoku even more today than I did when I was younger.
1 file available upon enrollmentI will provide a handout or puzzles for class. Students will have a better experience if this handout is printed and used in class with a pencil and eraser.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
