Class Experience

Tony has a pretty boring life working as a detective in Cardiff. However, when a painting goes missing from the local museum, he begins to realize that things are not as good as he once thought. The little seaside town holds a secret. While the people of Cardiff want to help Tony at first, he can tell they want to stop him when he starts digging deeper. Help Tony solve the mystery of the missing painting before the people of Cardiff become too hostile.

In this class, students will each be given a set of clues via private message in class. They will be responsible for sharing their clues with the class. Student will learn the vocabulary words- motive, hunch, hypothesis, and red herring. Students will come up with a hypothesis, and I will let them know how close they are. Once they have solved the mystery, we will talk about what they could have done more efficiently to solve the mystery.

The clues given include information on where certain characters were and when, who saw what, and who had a motive to take the painting. No hostages are taken or anything that might be frightening.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Laurel, and I have a passion for learning. I love making learning fun for children and engaging them in the material.

I have worked with children ages three to eighteen, teaching both English and Spanish. I learned Spanish through immersion while I lived in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. My husband is from Nicaragua, and meeting him was the reason I became interested in learning another language. Now, I speak Spanish fluently and am working on mastering my fourth and fifth languages. Learning various languages has given me insight on the best and most effective ways to learn and begin speaking from the beginning.

I plan to teach a variety of courses that focus on the languages I love and on my other passion- English literature.
