In this class, students will learn about different planets and find us a new home. They'll learn about the distance, travel time, and different planets habitat and atmosphere. The main objective of this class is to learn about different planets and moons and their habitats. Once they have obtained the information about each planet and moon learners will create a plan to decide which planet will suit us best. Class objectives: Students will calculate the distance between Earth and each planet. How long will it take us to arrive on the planet? Discuss each planets current habitat and why we can't live on the planet just yet! Based on our discussion and what we have learned, learners will then be divided into small groups, placed in breakout rooms, to discuss the facts about each planet and create a plan to relocate. In breakout rooms: Students will build a plan with a small group of learners and discuss their ideas with the class. We will be the first martians on each planet so we have to think about everything we will need to relocate. This class is fun and educational. Class structure: Meet and greet, introductions! Talk and discuss facts about each planet. (Short lecture) Breakout room assignment (printable worksheets will be provided) We will discuss everyone's plan. 4 day Summer Break Camp: Monday: Mercury Tuesday: Venus Wednesday: Mars & Jupiter and Europa Thursday: surprise planet Last day of camp we will come to a conclusion as to which planet may be the most like Planet Earth. Worksheets will be added to the classroom before each session. Real actual facts but planning space-traveling will be fiction!
