In this class, we will spend time socializing and creating STEM projects! Our topics include: staying warm in winter, igloos, snowflakes, and snowballs. We will also spend time creating activities using recycled items from home.

Class experience

US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
Students will work on social skills. Students will also create hands-on projects and activities while learning about some important winter concepts. Finally, students will learn about recycling and make some indoor activities using recycled items found around their homes.
I am a licensed elementary teacher with many years experience teaching in schools. I also have 3 young children of my own that I do STEM projects with.
Homework Offered
In classes 5 and 6, students will learn about recycling. They are encouraged to look for items around their homes that can be recycled. Then they can bring those items to class 6.
Assessments Offered
Grades Offered
Class 1:large bowl full of ice water, big ziploc bag, cotton balls, newspaper, shortening (you will need enough to surround your child's hand or finger OR to fill the ziploc bag 1/2 full of each: cotton balls, newspaper, and shortening)-butter can be used as an alternative to shortening. You will be putting the shortening or butter in layers around a finger.
Class 2:stryofoam or paper cup, cotton balls or marshmallows (cotton balls work best with the glue, but you can use either mini or regular size marshmallows or a combination or both sizes too), toothpicks, scissors, glue (liquid glue works best if you have some!)
*Please note you will need enough cotton balls or marshmallows to cover the cup and a glue that will hold your cotton balls or marshmallows to the cup.
Class 3:mini and regular size marshmallows, toothpicks
Class 4:1 empty toilet paper roll or paper towel roll, scissors, 1 balloon, duck tape, AND
choose a few of the following: mini marshmallows, regular size marshmallows, little foam balls, Cheerios, or pom pom balls

(**For our next two classes 5 & 6, kids can look for items that can be recycled around their home. They will bring them to our next class and we will share them together.)**
Class 5:6 or 10 empty toilet paper rolls (or a few paper towel rolls), markers, ball
Class 6: Lego's or another type of blocks that can be stacked, empty cereal box, scissors, duct tape, marble or small balls or toy cars
Parent support (off-camera) will be very useful as needed when kids work through the projects each week.
