Are you looking for a safe, fun, friendly place for your Autistic teenage girl to meet friends and talk about things that matter to her and have her voice heard? This is the place. In our class, the weekly meetings will be learner-driven and we will focus on topics that are important to teen girls, such as school, family, future plans, books, pop culture, music, and more. Each week, I will lead the discussion with a new topic that the girls chose in the previous lesson. The learners can have as much or as little input as they feel comfortable with, but I am hoping everyone gets involved and has a great time. I will use visual cues when needed so all the students are aware of the topic. As the moderator in the classroom, I will make sure the tone of the class is always positive, encouraging, and welcoming to all members. I am very excited about this group and I hope your teenager will join us.
Learning Goals
~This is a social group. The students will interact with each other to form new friendships, practice communication skills, and share thoughts, ideas, and opinions.

Parental Guidance
~We will not discuss anything that would be scary or upsetting to the learners.
Supply List
~No materials are needed, however, the students are always welcome to show us anything that they would like.

Teacher expertise and credentials
~I have worked with children for over twenty years as a teacher, coach, mentor, and volunteer. For many of these years I worked in special needs education with autistic students. I taught these students in a group setting and one-on-one. Currently, I tutor children of all ages in my home, two of which have autism. I have coached archery for a high school team where I worked with autistic students, special needs students, and one who was blind.
