Class Experience

Tired of doing school work? Do you need a place to come and socialize? Want to learn new skills? Make new friends? Chat among your peers? If you answered YES to any or all of those questions then I have the class for you!

We will meet once a week and each week will play games, create snacks, and create masterpieces of work while socializing, sharing, and getting to know one another.

Here is the break down of current activities prepared:

Week of February 28: This week we will play a game of Pictionary-don't be discouraged if you are not an artist this game is fun no matter what level of talent you have with art. Bring a dry erase board, paper and pencil, or you can even draw on the whiteboard on zoom. Come with an imagination and get ready to have some FUN!!!

Week of March 7th: Join me while we make a small no-sew fleece pillow or blanket. We will make our own creation that you design, your own shapes and your own color patterns. No sewing is required for this project.

Week of March 14th: Who likes making snacks? Do you like trail mix? Rice Krispy treats? We will combine the two treats and make one. It's delicious! No baking necessary!

Week of March 21st: Come play a game of Emoji Quiz. We will have a list of emoji's to choose from and we will create phrases from emojis. I will have some already planned and you can come up with your own as well for us all to figure out.

Week of March 28th: In this class we will learn how to circle weave. Circle weaving is a fun craft to create pot holders, drink coasters or other items. We will use cardboard to weave instead of a loom.

These classes will follow the same outline, we will start by introducing one another, have time to share something from their week, and then instructions will be given for the activities prepared, I will highly encourage socializing during the activities. This will be a fun, laid back class where we get to learn new things, play fun games, and meet new people.

There is no prior knowledge necessary for any of these classes. I will walk you through each step and teach you how to do each game, snack, or project.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome! I live in Virginia with my two precious boys Ashton, and Carson and a beloved partner of 17 years; Jeremy. I enjoy traveling, spending time with my kids, learning new things, and I especially enjoy teaching. Teaching has always been a dream of mine and I continue to find different enlightening avenues to fulfill this dream.

I have a Bachelor of Liberal Arts with a concentration in Elementary Education, Associates of Arts & Science, and a certificate in Surgical Technology.

I am a licensed teacher and taught 2nd grade for three years and will be teaching third grade this coming year.
I have experience in teaching students to read, write, and math skills.

I started my career as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), I then received my certificate in Surgical Technology (CST) and worked in the operating room for 5 years. Then I taught the clinical/lab portion of the Surgical Technology program at the community college level. I worked for a short time in a daycare/preschool setting teaching ages 3-5, which lead me to becoming a Special Education Teacher Assistant in an elementary school, teaching children from kindergarten to fifth grade, this position pathed the way for my current job as a public educator. I volunteered with the local Girl Scouts, for about 5 years, as a troop leader for girls ages 5-18.

I am hoping to teach a diverse group of classes touching on different areas of my expertise and career paths. I enjoy being in the classroom and working with all children, Outschool is just a different version of that classroom and I look forward to working with your child(ren) and enjoying a class(es) together here on Outschool.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or would like to request a class time/topic.
