Description

Class Experience

The materials will come from an anti-racist, decolonized perspective when speaking about geography and cultural issues. I will use a pre-test with each unit to identify the level needed for scaffolding the materials. The level of information ranges from first to fourth-grade equivalent and I will provide additional resources if the student is interested in going deeper. I am a former special education teacher and created and implemented social studies curriculum for middle school students with disabilities.
Handouts will be provided for each unit. If you do not have access to a printer, I can help you find free PDF converters. The intensity of writing will vary by student. Some students may be asked to write complete sentences while others may be asked to circle or indicate their answer with a checkmark.

Each student should come prepared with a pencil or pen, the packet, and additional paper.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
