- Students will be able to explain the differences in climate and landscape between different regions in the United States.
- Students will learn fun facts about each of the US states.
This class is meant to be a brief overview of the geography and history of each US state, therefore we will not discuss much of the controversial topics that come with a deep dive into US History. However, some sensitive topics may come up like the genocide of Indigenous Nations and the cruelty of slavery in the US. I am an experienced Social Studies teacher in both Utah and North Carolina. In my training and 5+ years experience teaching I have found that the best way to approach these sensitive topics is to address them explicitly and have an open conversation with my students. You or your student are always welcome to meet with me individually if you are bothered by anything! These topics can be difficult to navigate and I am always trying to improve!
