Beginner Level
Students will learn the building blocks of social skills through a variety of music based games, activities, and song. Students will have the opportunity to practice basic conversation with peers using their preferred means of communication (AAC, speaking, visual supports). We will cover greetings/goodbyes, getting to know a friend (asking and answering questions), and basics of reciprocal conversation. All methods of communication are welcome and respected. My teaching style is upbeat and musical. I strive to create a naturalistic environment so students can carry what they learn over into their day to day lives with friends. My main focus is for students to have fun and feel motivated and safe to practice communication with one another. Students will be interacting with me and peers for the duration of the class. No prior music experience is required!
Learning Goals
- social skills development
- naturalistic & fun environment for expressive communication!
