Students will gain knowledge of common life experiences and the social and emotional skills needed to address these experiences.
Ms Tara who is teaching this course is an Education Specialist who is also a graduate of the Science of Happiness Class from Berkeley Science Center for the Greater Good. But this class also uses many other verified resources, gathered after having surveyed over 100 middle and high school students to discover their areas of need. So, dealing with common life experiences, building strong relationships and discovering their life purpose are areas of need that are addressed during this course. This class does not cover mindfulness techniques (though this is a valid form of stress reduction). In this class we are giving practical, scientific information.
No homework. All projects are in class. Students are encouraged to apply what they've learned outside of class.
Attendance and participation in class
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
