Homework
Students will be assigned homework during the first week. This entails practicing talking to others in a real situation or role-playing situation.

Class Experience

In this class, students will learn many social skills to help them engage with new friends and adults in a kind and positive manner. Ideal students for this class are those that have a tendency to have a difficult time with one or all of the following situations: 
-Talking to new people
-Speaking up about opinions and preferences in a kind way 
-Apologizing with sincerity
-Honoring differences in others and themselves
-Feeling positive in new situations


The topics taught in this class include: 
-Greeting others with eye contact and smiles
-Meeting new people and engaging in polite conversations with words and body language
-Respecting boundaries and personal space
-Accepting differences of other people and honoring your differences
-Voicing opinions and preferences with kindness
-Apologizing with sincerity
-Feeling positive

In the first meeting, students will learn friendly ways of greeting and meeting people, and how to honor personal space and boundaries.  Practice assignments will be given for students to complete before the next class.

In the second class meeting, students will learn kind strategies for voicing opinions and preferences, how to show a sincere apology, and how to remain positive in new situations.

Students will learn through slide show discussion, role-playing, stories, and games. This will be a fun and informative class!
