Class Experience

In this class, students will learn essential social skills that help build friendships and foster positive interactions with their peers. We will cover a variety of topics, starting with an introduction to friendship, exploring what makes a good friend. Communication skills will be a key focus, teaching students how to effectively share their thoughts and feelings. We will also dive into empathy and understanding, helping them recognize and respect the feelings of others.

Additionally, we will address teamwork, where students will learn the importance of working together to solve problems and achieve common goals. Conflict resolution strategies will be introduced to equip them with tools for handling disagreements and finding solutions.

Week 1: Introduction to Friendship
In this session, students will explore what makes a good friend, discussing qualities like kindness, support, and trust. They will engage in fun icebreaker activities to help them get to know each other and build a sense of community.

Week 2: Communication Skills
This week will focus on effective communication. Students will learn how to express their thoughts and feelings clearly and listen actively to others. Activities will include role-playing scenarios to practice sharing and responding to different social situations.

Week 3: Empathy and Understanding
In this session, students will discover the importance of empathy. They will participate in activities that help them recognize and respect others’ feelings, such as reading stories and discussing characters’ emotions. This will foster a deeper understanding of how their actions can impact their peers.

Week 4: Teamwork and Conflict Resolution
The final week will cover teamwork and conflict resolution strategies. Students will engage in group activities that require collaboration, emphasizing the importance of working together. They will also learn how to handle disagreements respectfully, with role-playing exercises to practice finding solutions.

Learning Needs
This class is designed to be inclusive and support all learners, including those with unique learning needs such as ADHD, autism, and dyslexia.
Parental Guidance
This class will incorporate age-appropriate media rated for children, including stories, videos, and interactive games to enhance learning about social skills and friendships. While the content is designed to be engaging and positive, discussions will focus on general concepts and skills rather than personal experiences. Parents should note that students will be encouraged to participate in discussions, but sharing personal or private information will not be allowed. All media used will be suitable for a first-grade audience, and parents can review the content ratings in advance.
