Class Experience

I have a degree in elementary education and have been working with kids through teaching, coaching, and childcare for over 15 years. I have extensive experience and expertise working with ESL learners. Also, I am raising three boys of my own ( ages 1, 5 & 8). I am often inspired to create classes that cover subjects I find important in my own parenting journey. I am a lifelong learner and an avid reader. To support my curriculum development I dedicate significant time to reading, listening, and learning about the most current research on child development, teaching, and parenting.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
In classes where we discuss safety with strangers, tricky people, and personal space we discuss being the boss of our body. This means students have every right to say "no" to any type of touch from both peers and adults ("My body my choice"). I discuss touch using words: kiss, snuggle, hug, high five, and tickle. We do not discuss inappropriate sexual touch.

For the class on "Tone & Body Language", I discuss that body language and tone vary from culture to culture. We spend little time discussing "right vs wrong", rather focus on decoding tone and body language to better understand others, and better express ourselves.
