Social Skills Camp - Being a Good Friend & Conversation Strategies - PART 1 Of 4 (Ages 8-12)

***THIS IS THE “CAMP” VERSION OF A VERY POPULAR ONGOING CLASS!***

This class introduces children to communication tools to help make friends, start a conversation, join conversations, and get along with people. To facilitate learning and student interaction, we will look at pictures and read short stories about people in various real-to-life scenarios and share possible dialogue among characters in the story and or situations. Slides will also be used for this class for discussion and content introduction. 
Each class is divided into two parts:
(1) a discussion part where students will learn content and strategies regarding the day's topic. 
(2) a practice part where students will get the opportunity to practice conversation exchanges, between teacher and students using prompts. Practice makes it perfect!

The course has been broken down into 4 Parts (2 classes per session) and you can sign up for any session in any order. 

This 2-class session will cover these topics:

Day 1: Being a Good Friend – Students will learn tools and practice what to do or say when working in a group, sharing, working things out and the power of being gracious. 

Day 2: Social Success – During this class students will be introduced to various conversation strategies, such as staying on topic and changing topics, managing conversation challenges, and the power of being a good listener.
