Class experience
Come share your favorite thing while building conversation skills. This is a dedicated time for your learner to share their passions, whether it is about Pokemon, Minecraft, artwork, or a favorite stuffed animal. I will use conversational prompts to engage the learner as needed. We will go over different ways to ask questions and respond to others throughout a conversation or chat. As we talk, I will draw a "mind map" of the conversation. We will review that at the end of the session to see...
I am not a licensed therapist. This is not a session to discuss feelings of depression or mental health issues. I will use my skills from social work and years in Special Education to help guide the student back to the conversation focusing on passions. If I sense further help is needed, I will send a note to the parent after class with the learner's permission.
I will provide a handout for conversation skills that may be printed. Please go to the classroom for handouts.
