Description

Class Experience

The imagination of H.G. Wells is a representation of artistry and writing at the greatest of heights.  His work is a gift to us.  This class will explore the works of H.G. Wells and examine his extraordinary genius.  

Three works will be the focus of this class.  Learners are invited to analyze and explore the prophetic visions of War of the Worlds, The Island of Dr. Moreau and The Time Machine.  Though a century has aged these works the insight of H.G. Wells is more than relevant today, and...

Students who participate in this learning experience will advance their understanding of cautionary themes in literature and society.

With twenty years of experience teaching Social Studies and English classes I have always enjoyed teaching the analysis of literature through a historic lens.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Students will be assessed during instruction.  A quasi-Socratic method will be utilized.

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

The Time Machine makes mention of a cannibalistic society.
