Welcome! In this ongoing class, children will have the opportunity to practice communication skills, interact with peers, use their social skills and talk about their hobbies and interests. There will be rotating topics including favorite animals/pets (my pets will make cameo appearances,) favorite foods, interests/hobbies, books or movies, etc. I will also have a list of games including Would You Rather questions, understanding idioms, and I spy games. I have a 12 year old son with autism. I have taught in 2 separate homeschool co-ops working with many different special needs children on varying functional levels. I have been homeschooling my son for 7 years and have worked closely with a team of therapists and specialists to ensure everything meets his needs. I know how important working on social skills can be. I lead a gentle class while offering encouragement to participate. Children are welcome to participate however they feel comfortable.
