1-2 hours per week. Students will be encouraged to practice their new skills and will be given time at the beginning of each class to share success stories. "Homework" will be encouraged after each class. Only one written assignment (creating a SMART goal) will be assigned. All other days, learners will be asked to notice their new skill or knowledge base in action.Class Experience
This class will be a fun and interactive learning experience specifically designed with the "tween" in mind. Navigating the social situations that arise in this time of life, building positive self-esteem, increasing friendship skills, making good decisions, applying the concepts of growth mindset...the stress to get it all together overwhelms children sometimes. This summer camp will spend one day of the week taking a deep dive into each of the following: Monday: Self-awareness What am I thinking? How am I acting? Why? Tuesday: Self-management Coping strategies, mindfulness, levels of problems Wednesday: Responsible decision making Using graphic organizers to help guide, peer pressure Thursday: Social awareness Theory of mind, actions affect those around us, social and facial cues Friday: Relationship skills Active listening, conversation starters and role play, scenarios
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to navigate strong emotions and how to form friendships in a supportive atmosphere of respect.

Parental Guidance
I use Canva as a presentation tool. Students will not need to access this website.
I will also use Kahoot on occasion to reinforce the lesson. Learners will need to access this site; however they will be given a code which takes them directly my quiz on the site.
