Class Experience

Students will develop their emotional recognition as we practice identifying different emotions through the use of images, books, and sharing moments when they felt a certain emotion. Little learners will be given the opportunity to share in front of the class and gain more confidence in themselves as well as practice addressing and owning their feelings.

They will develop social skills and empathy as they begin to understand the cause and effect nature of our actions and behaviors in creating emotions in others. The use of storytime will help children to develop personal insight and an understanding of themselves. This exposure to different perspectives while focusing on emotions will help them develop greater empathy for others.

We will use mindfulness techniques and I will teach them how to breathe and meditate so they can start to develop introspection and learn how to check in with their emotions. Students will have their own happy word they can repeat as a mantra in moments of stress or emotional struggle. This awareness started at a young age will help them as they grow older in learning to respond, rather than react to people and situations.
