At the start of each class we will introduce ourselves and express our feelings to each other.  
Students will learn how to display appropriate behavior in the community, work on effective communication skills such as speaking and listening.  Help students think before they act, help students keep their feelings in check, allow students to adjust to the unexpected, helps students keep key information in mind, allows students to evaluate how they are doing, help students decide on a goal and a plan to meet it, help students take action and get started, and let students keep track of things physically and mentally.  
We will Identify various decisions that they must make daily across communities. 
• Recognizing the importance of strategies to use and the consequences of those actions. 
• Listing various positive choices they can make in their daily lives. 
• Investigating outcomes from various choices that people can make in social situations. 
• Organizing and participating in a collaborative demonstration of respectful, fair, and honest choices. 
We will Identify positive language choices that may be used in different social circles.  
• Analyze the tools and strategies we can use to solve problems and deescalate situations. 
• Investigating various skills required to maintain healthy relationships.
• Talk about ways to make positive choices and how they can help. 
• Talk about activities which contribute to their community. 
• Talk about choices we can make in school/ community and presenting to peers and adults. 
At the end of each class we will do a happy dance by playing some music and moving around.  
Learners will express their feelings on current events happened and why they feel that way and we will all share our thoughts.
Learners do not need any materials for this class just themselves and their expressions.
Learning Goals
Students will learn impulse control, emotional control, flexible thinking, working memory, self-monitoring, planning and prioritizing, task initiation, and organization skills.

I am currently a special education teacher for the Department of Education in New York City.  I have a master's degree in special education and general education grades 1-6.  I have been teaching for 5 years and before that I worked as a paraprofessional.  I have a lot of of experience with children with autism and those who are emotionally disturbed.   I also coach baseball and basketball and I'm a huge sports fan.  Let's go Yankees, Jets, and Nets!
