What will be taught? This class will include think about it phrase of the day, conversation to express feelings, and a craft to support self regulation of positive psychology. Finally we will play some games, journaling, read stories and more in safe supportive environment. 

There is No BIG terminology will be taught. The term self regulation will be mentioned in class in a way such as example. “If you feel upset or sad maybe using a glitter jar will help you calm down”. 

THIS CLASS is not Group Therapy. These are all basic CLASSROOM INSTRUCTIONs that take place to introduce topics and give ways to help one in a time they need it or allow them see the importance of being nice and helping others. 

Definition of classroom instruction: class room instruction “addresses topics such as peer relationships, stress, as well as learning ways to deal with one's feelings and emotions.  Large group lessons are preventative in nature, designed to reach all students, and are taught in the classroom.” 

What topics will you cover? Self Affirmation's, self regulations, guided mediation, journaling, self expression, read stories and more 

How is your class structured? 5-10 of group conversation, 30min crafts, 10 min of games. and 10 min of guided Mediation, 

Sample schedule 
9-9:05 conversation about our day and how we feel. 
9:05 -9:20 Think about it quote and discussion on the quote 
9:20-10:00 craft 
10-10:10 Games 

All games are silly games that I have created myself or are from GoNoodle. Such as “purple Stew”, “Lama”,etc. These games are meant to be fun. And not serious. We will play all these games verbally. no links needed.

Monday: Focus on Confidence and positive topics about ourself.  We will Think about the Phrase “Believe in Yourself” and discuss what that means to you. We will also learn some facts about how confidence and believing in yourself can impact your mood. 

Craft: Self Affirmation Poster: Materials: paper, black marker, pencil, crayons, colored pencils. 

Story:

Tuesday: Focus on Self regulation.  We will focus on The phrase “Let it Go”. And talk about feelings. What kind of feelings are out there. Happy, Sad, angry etc. students are able to share a time where they felt this way. We will also talk about what helps us feel better

Craft Feel Better Ice pops: Where we will write 3 things we can do to help us feel better.  

Story:

Wednesday: Focus on  spreading kindness to others and the impact on ourself and others. Focus on the phrase “Make someone Happy”. . And talk about how kindness rocks work. 

Craft Kindness Rocks.  Materials: Rock or Stone, paint, or sharpie markers. 

Thursday: Focus on what makes us feel good and positive looks on the future. We will talk about the phrase “Celebrate the little things”. Explain how vision boards work. 

Materials: poster board/paper, scissors , glue, magazines or printable clip art, crayons, pencils, markers and or stickers. 

How will you teach? This class will meet live. Videos are not required to stay on after attendance. 

What's your teaching style? Calm, supportive, style. That focuses on the students being the leaders in conversations. 

How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)? We will interact with reflection, conversations and games. 

Any required experience or knowledge learners need? No experience needed.

This class also encourages students to speak up about who they are, feelings, identity and their impact that they have on others. We as students need to respect others students views even if we disagree. I will do my best to monitor the conversation to assure they never get out of hand to protect and validate other feelings.

I have a BA in psychology and a minor in Early Childhood education P-3. In addition, I am studying for my MA in school counseling. Intern with  a school counselor for classroom instruction activities. All of these activities I have done before in a class with students and or we as a class use them on daily basis.
