Social Club -Make New Friends, Gain Confidence, and Work on Social Skills (8-12)
What's included
1 live meeting
30 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this social club, learners will have the opportunity to grow in their social skills by making new friends. Learners will be guided in conversation through various questions and prompts and will be encouraged to ask questions of their own to bond with other students. Learners will leave each class with deeper friendships and more confidence in their social abilities, along with having had a lot of laughter and fun in class! Each class will remain light-hearted and full of fun, a sure way for learners to bond with their peers. We will start each chat by giving anyone who wants, a chance to share some fun things from their past week! This opens learners up to conversation right away, giving them a chance to talk about something they know about right from the start! In this class, we will spend our time growing relationships with one another and growing in our confidence and social skills. Each week, learners will share the "high" from their week, which is simply just the best part of their week! Fellow learners are encouraged to interact with those who are sharing the best part of their week, allowing learners to develop social support skills. At the end of each class, every student will set two goals for the upcoming week, which will then be discussed the next week. This is an awesome way for your learner to start and develop the skill of setting goals and completing them, as their fellow learners, and I encourage them along the way. Goals can be big or small, and learners are encouraged to help each other think of a goal if anyone can't think up one for themself. Learners write their goals down on paper at the end of class and are then encouraged to place them somewhere in their room that they will see every day. I want each learner to leave class feeling seen, supported, and a little better than before the class started! Our topics each week will vary, based on what the learners did that week, and what topics they want to discuss. Each week we will have one fun question to kick us off, such as our favorite candy, favorite sport, and favorite animal. NOTE TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS I graduated in May of 2023 with a bachelor's in Psychology, with a specific focus in adolescent psychology, as well as a minor in musical performance and songwriting. I am also a classically trained ballet dancer, a musician, and a published writer. My desire in teaching is that each learner will leave class feeling seen, supported, encouraged, and a little better than before the class started! I am so extremely excited to meet and encourage your learner! I have spent the past six summers as a counselor at a large youth camp and will be continuing to do so in the upcoming year. I counsel kids between the ages of six and eighteen. I consider time teaching and impacting children and youth to be both a joy and a blessing. I have also, for the past eight years, spent countless hours teaching various genres of dance classes, and music lessons, for children of all ages. Of special importance to me has been my work with special needs children. The sheer joy on their faces as they feel a sense of accomplishment brings a special blessing to my heart. I am the fourth of five in a homeschooled family, so we've always been called upon to help each other out, develop a strong and positive character, and live good and responsible lives. -Gracie Steele

MY TEACHING STYLE:
My goal as a teacher is to make each student feel seen, loved, appreciated, and encouraged throughout our class time. I desire each student to leave class feeling better and brighter than when they logged in. I believe in positive encouragement, and helping my students find their confidence in who they are, along with making sure they have fun during our time together.
