Join this learner directed game class to connect with awesome people who love learning on Outschool. Learners will share socially while they play a game of Starbound on a private secure server. This game combines the aspects of farming, mining, space exploration, quest based play and group based play. You can enlist NPC crewmates and upgrade your ship! Starbound has it all! Imagine Terraria but with more spaceships and adventure. It has a slower pace and the opportunity to team up for quests while we all explore different parts of the universe. With a rich Zelda-esque backstory and challenging bosses, this game is so much fun! I love the exploration part of Starbound and everyone in my family plays their own style. Sometimes we group up for quests and sometimes we just build and explore. You get to decide! Please note that this class runs for 1.5 hours as 1 hour never seems like enough. Please disable all of your mods to join the server. We just discovered it won't override mismatches so please disable. This is a PC/Mac/Linux game that has to be purchased and installed before the class. This server only connects with PC/Mac/Linux users. Also ensure that you join the game with a character in Casual mode as this is where it's determined (not server side but player side). Once registered, you will be given an IP and user name/password to connect to the LAN game setting when starting the game, in a private message. This IP and sign in information must NOT be shared with anyone else or I will need to reset the IP and the whole server which will remove all progress. The game will run during class. After class, as required by Outschool, the server will not be accessible outside of class. You can also use existing characters in the game that you have already in your Character selection menu. This means you can gear up your character from your prior playing and import it into this game! No external Gamertags will be shared in class as the name you create for this game will be the only thing visible to the other players. No inappropriate names please. If anyone shares a gamertag or external contact info in chat, it will be deleted. Session topics will be learner-directed. Every player is free to play the style they would like to. There are some co-op elements, some PVE available but I will discourage PVP. This can cause hard feelings and is best avoided. The rules are: *No Griefing (this refers to damaging, stealing/borrowing without permission, moving buildings or harassing other players). *I will have zero tolerance for bullying and intentionally mean behaviour and learners will be removed from the server and parents will be contacted. These environments are for safe, supportive hangouts. *Do not share the game IP. When I notice players that are not in the class (you will share your character's name with me once created) I will ban them. *PVP is allowed only if both players agree and also no crewmates during PVP I fully expect our players to be kind, courteous and supportive because this is Starbound and it's a great game that encourages cooperation, exploration and building. See you in space, Ms. Yvonne (in game my name is Evie) We are ESL Friendly, CEFR Level B and C.
