This class will provide girls age 8-12 an opportunity to read a book and discuss it with their peers. Learners will be encouraged to keep a journal to record notes about key points that they want to discuss during the session. The teacher will also provide topics and questions to facilitate discussion. Session 1: Learners will discuss the first 12 chapters of the book. Learners will also discuss the goals and plans of the main character. This will lead learners to discussing and recording their own aspirations. Session 2: Learners will discuss chapter 13- 26 of the book. Learners will focus on discussing challenges that one may face when trying to reach a goal. Learners will discuss and record different ways to handle challenges. Session 3; Learners will discuss chapters 27- 39 of the book. Learners will focus on the ending of the story. ***This plan may be altered based of interests of the specific learners enrolled.
