US Grade 2
During this ongoing summer class, students will work on math skills that they will be exposed to in second grade. This session will give students the opportunity for review/extra practice of first grade skills, as well as be introduced to new second grade math skills. This is a great course for bridging math skills from first to second grade. This is also great for scaffolding...I will be here weekly to work through concepts that need extra practice or can challenge students if the need for that arises! We will use note taking, dialogue, practice, slides, games, interactive worksheets and more. Students will interact using discussion and white boards. Students will need the basic math knowledge of a mid year first grader. My teaching style is open ended. I love to use different styles and strategies to reach all different types of learners. This is an ongoing class, therefor learners will not need to attend each class, they can jump in and out as necessary. This second grade math course is perfect for a range of different types of learners: -homeschoolers -kindergarteners needing more challenging math -review and practice for students that need more time spent on specific concepts -scaffolding for those who don't need one on one tutoring, but would benefit from practice, challenge, review, and sharing/interaction -learners who enjoy interactive math These are weekly focus areas that we will cover throughout the course: Week 1 - Number Sense and Patterns Week 2 - Place Value Week 3 - Shapes/Geometry Week 4 - Addition and Subtraction Week 5 - Addition and Subtraction Continued Week 6 - Odd and Even Numbers Week 7 - Skip Counting Week 8 - Word Problems/Number Stories Class Benefits: Avoid the Summer Slide Prep For Upcoming Grade Taught By Licensed Teacher
