In this course we will review our basic knowledge of ballet and then continue on in building our vocabulary and technique. Ballet basics is needed for this course. We will cover vocabulary, technique, and the full ballet class structure. The way class will be structured is in the beginning we will start with our ballet barre and then move to center practice, from there we will cool down and review what we learned in that class and homework that was given or will be given. I will demonstrate the exercises for the students before I have them do it themselves that way they can see what is to be expected. I also encourage questions during class as well as to make sure the students understand what and how exactly they are executing the move. The students will be able to engage in discussions during video clips and when asked how they felt or notice about what was shown or explained in class.
Learning Goals
Students will have a basic understanding of a ballet class sequence and the terminology that goes along with it. For example the order of barre: piles, tendus ,degages, rond de jambe, fondu , frappe, petite battements,, adagio and grand battements then to center practice.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone my name is Gardenia Gilbert. I teach several different styles of dance i.e ballet, contemporary, and introduction to dance, along with fitness classes. I am a professional dancer that has been working in this field since graduating with a B.S in dance in 2015. I believe that everyone can benefit from moving their bodies. Not everyone has to be an experienced dancer or athlete to want to move their bodies.
Some of the best lessons I’ve learned were from ballet classes, that I’m still applying on my current journey in life. The lessons consist of discipline, passion, and confidence in who I am. I want my students to have fun and use whatever knowledge they gain in class on their journey.
As a special treat, some fun facts about me are that I'm currently learning French and I still love taking dance classes. You are never too old or experienced to still be considered a student.
*If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. I will respond within the 24hr to 48hr time frame.
