Description

Class Experience

The goal of this class is:
1. To learn the safety rules of soap making.
2. To explore the tools used in soap making.
3. To explore essential oils and carrier oils needed for soaps.
4. To learn to pour, scent, and design soap bars.
5. To gift wrap and store soap for longer shelf life.
In each class, these five topics will be reviewed at the beginning of each session.
The goal is for the student to master the art of soap making for self-use, gifting, or even merchandising.
I have been doing arts and crafts for well over 25 years. I have been making and selling my soaps and oils for several years. The soap making process is very rewarding in that it give a pretty immediate result. Soaps make great gifts for all seasons of life. I will only be teaching the methods that I have tried and found to work. There are many creative avenues you can from soap making, lip balm, moisturizer and bath bombs. Each of these make great gifts.
You can buy a soap-making kit at any craft store or online. Online has the most for your money. When buying please look to make sure kit has silicon molds not plastic. Your kit should include: 1. Silicone molds 2. Melt and Pour Soap. I will be using Shea Butter and Donkey Milk. Yes, Donkey Milk Soap is amazing for the skin. Most kits will have scents, oils, herbs, and dry flowers be cautious of this if anyone in your household has allergies. Please make sure to have Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Coconut Oil to use as our carrier oil. A heat-resistant microwavable measuring cup with a handle. (the handle is a must for easy pouring) If you aren't sure what you are buying message me and send me a picture or I can post pictures for you. Here is a kit and ingredients that will last for several classes if not all. Here is a great kit but you can find them cheaper. Aoibrloy Soap Kits Making for Adults Beginner with Instructions, Natural Soap Making Kit with 2lbs. Shea butter. You can also order more types of melt and pour soaps. You will also need Epson salt plain, glycerin soap block, olive oil or coconut oil, citric acid, and Pure-Castile Liquid soap. and baking soda. These ingredients will be used in almost all of our classes. With these ingredients, you will be able to make a huge amount of various products.
I will do a written assessment after class usually within 48 hours.
45 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
Please be aware of the following:
1. We will be using a microwave to melt soap product.
2. We will be using a sharp knife during class.
3. We will be using Essential Oils and Carrier Oils, please note YOU MUST be aware of this due to allergens. Please let me know if you student has an allergen so that I can replace ingredients.
All of the above can be dangerous to a child. I will go over safety procedures before soap making begins.
