Description
Class Experience
Students will gain a deeper understanding of the genre of Science fiction and using their knowledge to create a piece of creative writing, Learners will understand how to plan out a story and use self-created information sheets.
Writing is my passion and as well as majoring in English at university, I've almost 20 years’ experience in teaching English in primary schools (4-11-year-olds). Over those years I have worked regularly with groups of children specifically on English writing skills. My favourite lessons have always been when I can find out what interests and motivates a student and use those interests to engage a learner and build their confidence. I'm also a HUGE sci-fi geek and have written in this genre myself as well as been an avid sci-fi viewer and reader and have attended conventions and exhibitions. I also collect and Sci-fi figures and have my own squad of Stormtrooper action figures who live with us!
No homework is assigned for this class.
Something to write on, such as a notebook or sheets of paper (please bring enough to make notes, create a plan/ cheat sheet and the story itself). Something to write with. OR A device to work on. Please ensure that students on devices can still be present in the classroom whilst working on their writing.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal assessment during class.
