So You Want to Write... a Fairytale.

Once Upon A Time learners looked at what makes a fairytale different from an ordinary story and learned how to write their own, using traditional elements - but putting their own twist on the story. And they all wrote happily ever after.

Class Experience

 Learners will look at:
Planning techniques in creating a story
Descriptive techniques
How to incorporate the main elements of a traditional fairytale into their story and blend them with new ideas. 
Writing is my passion and as well as majoring in English at university, I've almost 20 years’ experience in teaching English in primary schools (4-11-year-olds). Over those years I have worked regularly with groups of children specifically on English writing skills. 
No homework will be assigned
Notebook/ paper and pen/ pencil or device to take notes and write the story on.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal assessment during class.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
There are no parental guidance issues for this class.
Traditional fairytales will be referred to and small passages of public domain stories shared.
