Welcome to the world of Seams! Understanding seams will help you build upon the foundation of sewing. With this understanding, you will be able to move forward with creating different projects that have solid seams. In this multi-day series class, students will gain a basic understanding of seams. We will cover: *straight seams *gathered seams *eased seams *curved seams *angled seams *finishing raw edges Here is the class structure: -I will go over the topics covered and give examples of each. -Students can ask questions as needed. This class is designed for those who have some knowledge of machine-sewing. The goal is to gain a basic knowledge of seams. This means we will: 1. See examples of straight seams. 2. See examples gathered seams. 3. See examples of eased seams. 4. See examples of curved seams. 5. See examples of angled seams. 6. See examples of finishing raw edges. 7. Practice sewing these. If your child would like to expand his or her knowledge and experience of sewing, then you will need to book another class in the SO YOU WANT TO SEW series or a project class. Although I will not be using it for class, a helpful book of reference for use between classes is "Sewing Basics: All You Need to Know About Machine And Hand Sewing" by Sandra Bardwell. Notes: Please see the supply list.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi and Welcome!
I have 20+ years of experience in sewing.
I am passionate about teaching sewing because it is so much fun to see others get excited about making their ideas become a reality.
It's also a great creative and relaxing outlet, even therapeutic for some people.
Sewing is an excellent method for practicing & developing problem solving skills in a unique way.
Some of the types of classes I teach are:

I have the ability to create from patterns, mixing different patterns, and using my creativity & artistic ability when a pattern is not available.
Some of my background include:
