Description

Class Experience

Students will:
-be able to practice the stab stitch.
-be able to practice the whipstitch.
-be able to practice the blanket stitch.
-be able to practice the catch stitch.
-be able to practice the herringbone stitch.
-be able to practice French tacks.
While homework is not a requirement, it is preferred that students practice the hand-sewing technique taught each week (and previous weeks). This allows time for the student to build upon the techniques learned during classes.
In order for learners to participate, they will need these items for class: -a medium length, general purpose hand-sewing needle (one with an eye big enough to be threaded with general purpose thread) -a needle threader (for learners who possibly need added assistance in threading a needle) -a spool of all-purpose thread, any color -age-appropriate scissors -piece of scrap cotton fabric (12 x 12 inch minimum size) -thimble (in case the needle has trouble going through the fabric) -paper and pencil for those who want to take notes
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parental Guidance is due to use of sharp objects such as needles & scissors.
