Lesson 1 - In this lesson, students will learn about how to be a TV presenter. I will show the children some of the professional work that I have done on screen. We will then play a game which leads us nicely into the skills needed for a presenting. The students will go on a tour of a television studio and practice auditioning on a live autocue. They will learn about the job roles behind the camera and how a lot of presenters work their way to the front of the camera. Students will be given practical exercises and tips on how to appear natural and relaxed in front of the camera. We will explore in detail the subtle differences of the voice and body on screen compared to on stage. Lesson 2 We will begin the lesson with an Ice breaker and the students will have an opportunity to write their own mini scripts and then present their ideas back. I will give them feedback on their presenting skills and ideas, We will discuss the different types of presenting positions. They will learn more about how to brand themselves and an overview on how to create a self -tape. I will also provide them with information on how they can get in touch with producers and agents. We can discuss ideas for a YouTube account if they haven't got a name yet. Lesson 3 -Students will then upload a 60- second clip of themselves presenting on to their computers this will be done before class. If uploading is not possible students can share a pre-recorded video or present live. The class will then share the videos they have shared locally on their computers tablets. In this class, we can discuss branding. YouTube names performer names. I will then teach the students how to create branding material on Canva. Branding material such as a flyer and thumbnails for YouTube. We will cover copyright regulations so that they are aware of what can legally be uploaded. Due to the nature of this class students will be required to keep their cameras on. This class will provide the students with all the skills necessary to promote themselves as presenters/ YouTube Stars. We won't be uploading anything on to YouTube but I will provide a guide on how to do that after the lesson and showing students how they can upload the design they have created in class. This is to compile with the YouTube regulations of minimum age. We won't be accessing social media.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to conduct themselves on camera and brand themselves. They will also learn how to audition for presenting roles.
