Topics that will be addressed include pros and cons of teaching, typical certification areas, salary and benefits included in the pay, how to prepare now as a high school student, and teacher evaluation. Students will gain insight into the teaching career--from classroom responsibilities to financial considerations (salaries, benefits, etc). Students will also learn ways they can prepare now, as high school students, for a successful career in this rewarding profession. The goal of the class is to prepare students to be realistic about the profession so that they have the best chance of a happy, long-term career.
