Class Experience

In this exciting adventure through knife skills, students will become knowledgable in knife safety (first and foremost), as well as how to make different cuts. We will go over how to properly handle, use, clean, and sharpen a chef's knife. The cuts we will go over are the basics of knife skills. It won't be anything crazy, but it is super important to know these cuts if you plan on working in a kitchen, or going to culinary school, or if you just want to impress your parents for dinner! I will be showing and walking the students through all of the steps, or they are welcome to watch and take notes, and practice later on their own time. This class will be fully interactive so I welcome any and all questions because that's how we learn and get better!

Learning Goals

In my class, students will learn every aspect of how to work with a knife in the kitchen. Starting from where and how to store the knife, all the way to cleaning and putting away the knife. The specific cuts I will be teaching in this course are:
-Brunoise
-Small dice
-Medium dice
-Large dice
-Batonette
-Fine mince
-Chiffonade
-Rough chop

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have taken two courses in Culinary Arts where the first thing they teach is knife skills. I was also a Baking and Pastry Teacher's Assistant for one year so I have plenty of knowledge and tools to share about knife skills and knife safety.
