Description
Class Experience
My main goal as a teacher is always to launch a lifetime of space exploration and curiosity for my students, and inspire an enthusiasm in them to learn more about what exists beyond Earth. In this class, students will learn all about the planet closest to Earth- the planet we call Venus. Venus is a lot of fun to talk about because it has so many unique qualities that distinguish it from the other planets, most of them deadly to us humans. They will discover what happens when spacecraft visits this bizarre planet and learn about future missions to further explore it. My favorite part about this class is getting the students' reactions to this discussion. I look forward to motivating an excitement and passion for space! Blast off on an out of this world adventure with me!!
I have 12 years experience as a science teacher, with a focus on space studies. I love outer space, and no matter how old I get, I still enjoy discovering new things about it. Space exploration is one of the most fascinating topics to me, and I have found the enthusiasm with this subject is contagious!
Since this is a one-time class, no required homework will be assigned. I will send a couple fun videos after class, relevant to what we learned, that are sure to delight your student! They are always optional, but always encouraged.
No supplies needed.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
I will be happy to provide a private assessment to the parent if requested.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We won't leave the Outschool website during class, but after class I will send approved videos from YouTube.com relating to the class discussion that the students are sure to enjoy!
No outside sources will be used in the class meeting. I will send a couple optional, related YouTube videos after class if the student is interested in watching them. Also, solarsystem.nasa.gov is a fantastic website that covers all things space related, if the student ever wants to explore further.
