In this course students will learn how to create a cartoon reindeer art project. The project will help them practice fine motor skills through activities such as; drawing, painting, cutting, and gluing. The teacher will provide step by step directions and demonstrations for each part of the project. For our first meeting, we will draw the reindeer and then paint it using tempera paints. For the second meeting, we learn about snowflakes and how to draw them using oil pastel on sheet of...
Students will learn: -Principles of art: rhythm -Elements of art: line, color, & shape -About the symmetry of snowflakes -Fine motor skills through tracing, cutting, gluing, & painting -Painting & cutting techniques -How to employ good listening skills and follow directions
If students do not finish a step of the project in the time allotted, they will be asked to finish that part of the project on their own before the next class.
-12x18 Construction Paper, 1 piece of each color: Dark Blue or Black, & White -Tempera Paint: Brown, Red or Black (for the nose), & 2 additional colors of their choosing -Oil Pastels: Black, white, and 2-3 additional colors if they choose -1 pencil -Glue stick -Scissors -Paper Plate -Flat Paint Brush -Paper Towel -Smock -Table Covering
Students will be informally assessed on their ability to listen to and follow directions. Instruction will be adjusted according to each student's ability level completing each step of the project.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
