In this one-time class, students will learn the basics of opinion writing with fun winter topics. In an interactive format, students will understand the power of the word "because" and sort weak vs. strong persuasive sentences. Students will be supported through writing persuasive sentences about winter topics like snowmen vs. snow angels or sledding vs. skiing. We will tally our opinions and see what the ultimate winter items are! This class is most appropriate for elementary students who can write at least 1-2 sentences independently and feel comfortable reading their writing/sharing their opinion in front of a small group. **This class is NOT about Christmas/Santa and is perfect for learners that celebrate any holiday, or none at all!**
Learning Goals
Students will be able to recognize and sort strong vs. sentences that express an opinion.
Students will be able to share their opinion through writing and speaking, using specific reasons and examples.
