30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Dance Time! In this one-time class we will be learning a dance to the song ‘Show Yourself’ from the fan-favourite movie, Frozen 2. We will start with introductions, then interactive Frozen themed exercises for warm-up and stretches, and end with learning the routine. If there is time left over, participants will engage in more Frozen-inspired creative-movement activities. Participants will be encouraged to follow the exercises and dance at their own pace. My class is focused on creative movement and most importantly, having fun! Participants will receive a dance certificate at the end of class. Participants are encouraged to sing-along and wear clothing that is comfortable and that they can move freely in. Please bring a water bottle, and make sure there is enough room to move around in. We will be doing some stretches in class but it is recommended that participants stretch beforehand. Costumes and princess gear are welcome! No previous dance experience necessary. Caretakers: please stand-by the class as I will ask the participants questions and I will need you to hep unmute our dancers.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there! My name is Maya Golis. I have my Bachelor's of Arts in International Development from the University of Toronto. I am currently certified to teach ESL (English as a Second Language) and High-Five (Five Principles of Healthy Child Development). I have also been trained in disseminating mindfulness-based workshops to children by Merrymount Children's Center in London, ON. I am working towards my Master's degree in Education.
I have been teaching dance and theatre classes to children for over 10 years, with theatre companies such as Original Kids and extra-curricular programs with the City of London, ON. I truly learned the importance of arts-based education when I completed my internship at El Colegio del Cuerpo, a dance foundation in Cartagena, Colombia that aims to nurture artistic development in all of its students and professional dancers. I like to bring this experience to the classroom and infuse arts-based education and creativity into all of my classes. I have also been creating specialized classes for students with the company Tutor Doctor, most notably English classes for students with a variety of abilities and needs. I have been teaching ESL online for the past year, and have experience working with children ages 3-17 years old.
I love teaching! I think it's important to nurture a student's creativity and build their confidence so that they can not only learn and absorb content better, but also be an active agent in their personal development. I think creativity is an important tool and method, and I try to incorporate it in all of my classes. I can't wait to meet you! See you in the classroom.
