Where do all the missing socks go? In this one-time class, learners will explore the book Sneaky Sneakerton The Case of the Missing Sock by Noa Lindberg (used with permission) by discussing, reading, and examining the illustrations. Learners go on a great adventure with a sock that is suddenly "missing" and unknowingly on a quest for self-discovery. When we dig deeper, we find that matches don't always look like what we thought and we can see the world in a different view-- one of diversity, inclusion, tolerance, love, and unity.

We will begin with a discussion about learner's socks and look at Misses Dee's box of mismatched socks. Do these two match? Do these two? Why? Why not? We will continue with an interactive reading of the book. Learners are asked questions about what is happening and encouraged to ask questions of their own. We will discuss the storyline and the pictures, comparing and contrasting the socks. When we complete the book, we will look at the box of socks again to revisit the idea of "pairs" with new eyes. Finally, learners will be encouraged to draw two socks, making a match to add to the School of Sneakertons.

It is recommended that students have their own copy of the book prior to the class in order to optimize their following along with the story, examination of the illustrations, and understanding of the message the book is teaching. It's available only through Sumbunny Books here: http://sumbunnybooks.com/
