Smile and Socialize Scavenger Hunt
What's included

25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Ready, set, let's smile and socialize. In this high energy class learners will have fun socializing with friends about objects they find as they hunt around their house with their little eyes. Class will start with introductions to get to know one another. We will cover basic social skills and manners when we are talking and sharing; raise your hand to speak, use good listening ears, wait your turn, etc. Next, it will be time for our scavenger hunt! Students will be given specifications of an object they need to go and find and bring back to class. ‘Go find your favorite toy.’ ‘Find something you like to eat.’ ‘Find a book you like to look at.’ We will also work on color recognition with learners having to find objects of a certain color. ‘Find something the color of the sky.’ ‘Find something the color of a fire truck.’ While we wait on our friends we will practice counting and saying the alphabet to incorporate learning into our social time. Once all our friends have returned each learner will have the opportunity to share their object and other friends can ask questions if they wish. Looking forward to smiling and socializing with you on our scavenger hunt!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and welcome to my Outschool classroom, I'm so glad you are here! My name is Nikki and I can't wait to meet your learner in one of my classes where we will have lots of fun while learning!
I'm a homeschool mom and I live in Ohio with my husband and three kids who are 5, 4, and almost 2. I love spending time with my family whether it be reading a story together on a rainy day or taking a walk when the sun is shining.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education from Ohio University. I have worked with students in many different capacities including small groups, before/after school programs, tutoring and more. I taught in a kindergarten classroom for 4 years and in a preschool setting for one year. I also taught online as an ESL teacher for 2 years and have my TESOL endorsement.
Teaching brings me so much joy and I'm looking forward to sharing this passion of mine with your learner! I'm so excited to bring my love of teaching to this online platform!
Make sure to request a time for a class if you don't see one listed that works for you, I will work the best I can to provide a time that works for the both of us. Have a wonderful day!

Class Policies:
1. I will message parents within 24 hours before class if their child is the only learner. Though I am happy to teach a class with just 1 student (unless otherwise stated in the class description) I understand some want a social experience during the class. Parents will be able to decide if they want to continue with the class or transfer to a different section of the same class. I will follow Outschool’s guidelines for refunds.
2. Class will start right at the scheduled time, even if not every student is present. If there is a technical issue, I will contact parents through the classroom page to proceed with next steps.
3. I will try my best to finish as close to the scheduled end time in each class. Depending on low enrollment or extended discussion, the class may run a few minutes short or long.
4. If no students are in the classroom when class is scheduled to start, I will wait 10 minutes before exiting and the class will be considered finished.
5. Classroom expectations are as follows:
- Students will NOT be muted in the classroom, unless there is lots of background noise that is disruptive to the class. At the beginning of class I will go over classroom rules (raising your hand to speak, listening to your friends speak, etc) If a student is not following the rules and continues to talk over teacher and friends they will be kindly given reminders, if they continue to talk they will be muted until they raise their hand. This is so every student in the class has an opportunity to participate and learn.
- Students are expected to participate as much as they feel comfortable too. If a student is shy I will not force them to speak as I want everyone to feel comfortable in my classroom. If your child wants to stand up for the class or bring a stuffed animal or toy with them to feel more comfortable that is okay too! I want all my students to have fun and learn and whatever they need to help with that I encourage it.:)
-Parents and siblings are welcomed to watch the class; however, if a sibling wants to participate, do the craft, or engage in the lesson in anyway I ask that you please sign them up and pay the price per learner. I appreciate it! If you mention you have more then one learner in a class, I will offer a sibling discount, just message me on Outschool and we can discuss a discounted price.
