I have over 15 years of experience teaching elementary aged students, and hold both a Ph.D. and a M.Ed in education. I also have a current license to teach PreK through sixth grade. My educational background includes extensive training in teaching core academic subjects, gifted/creative logic, and all manners of pedagogical methods. Debating skills are a perfect way to stretch creative and logical thinking.
Please bring either a piece of paper, white board or tablet with your researched facts and to also help gather thoughts during the discussion.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Enrichment logic and debate skills can often be challenging for some students. Students will be actively encouraged to think creatively so please make sure that your child understands this. The class pace will be fast, it is meant to challenge student thinking, and it may be uncomfortable to experience not being "right" when a choice doesn't win.
