Class Experience
The Secrets of Famous Artists class will offer art activities to expand the creative experience and awareness of children in visual arts. The art projects are designed in the styles of the world’s famous artists. Students will explore the styles and techniques of the world’s greatest artists. Each art process will focus on one style of the artist. A brief biography of the artist will only add depth and interest to the project. Students will learn about different famous artists and some of the artwork they created.
I am an art teacher with a degree in education from Ukraine. I have been teaching for over 20 years. I used to teach after school art classes for elementary students at local schools and home-schoolers. I write and design my own curriculum and design art projects that are open-ended and have a lot of room for self-expression, individuality, and innovation. Also, I love exploring new ways of combining art with other disciplines like science and using ordinary art materials in new and unusual ways. I believe that art and creative thinking are beneficial to everyone. Creative skills are absolutely essential in problem solving and any other area of life -- mathematics, engineering, dancing, design, photography -- the list goes on and on. I started teaching art classes mostly for my daughter when she was just a preschooler. She is a senior in college now and I have seen how she's grown to apply these creative skills in how she studies, researches, and even how she cooks! I am still teaching art and creative thinking to other children and I love seeing my students' excitement as they discover that the world is open to so many unique possibilities.
Washable markers, oil pastels (crayons), watercolors, drawing paper, watercolor paper( I like Canson XL Cold Press)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
