Class Experience

Learners will:
~learn facts about insects
~sing songs about insects
~enjoy insect stories while working on sequence & story comprehension
~create fun art projects
~learn literacy & math skills and concepts through interactive Google Slides or hands on learning activities
I am a certified early childhood teacher with 20 years experience in the field of early childhood curriculum and instruction. I have taught in both brick & mortar and virtual settings.
This class does not contain live class meetings, therefore work will be completed during the viewing of the recorded class instruction. Learners may need additional time after the recording to finish up class activities. Learners are encouraged to post photos of course work & activities each week. This allows for engagement between teacher and the learners. By posting photos of class activities and/or work, feedback and encouragement can be provided to learners.
The suggested supplies include: paper, crayons, pencil, markers, glue, scissors, paint with a paintbrush, Play Doh.
Informal assessment will be provided as photos of class activities or work is posted to the classroom area of the class. This will allow for the teacher and learners to engage in conversation. This also allows for the teacher and classmates to provide positive encouragement and praise for hard work.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
No additional accounts or logins required. The Google Slides interactive games will be used through screen share within the Outschool platform.

Please pre-cut and/or assist your child in cutting out the art project pieces prior to viewing the recording. This will ensure safety practices while using the scissors.

Please be advised that some Play Doh may contain wheat. Be sure to monitor use of Play Doh so it is not ingested and/or cause an allergic reaction.
