In this small-group class, learners will practice reading comprehension and analysis skills focusing on understanding short stories and fictional passages. This class aligns with Common Core standards and will help learners develop the critical thinking skills needed to analyze and better understand the structure of a fictional text. In this class, we will read the science fiction short story, "The Message" by Sarah McCarry from Scholastic Scope. This passage will be displayed through screen-share. Interactive activities will be assigned via Google Slides, and access to a Google account is required. Students will be assessed using a game-based learning tool, Kahoot.com (no account required).
