Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
1. Learners will be able to confidently divide words into "chunks" (similar to syllables) and segment those chunks into their sounds in order to spell them.
2. Learners will use a word attack strategy to sound out a multi-syllable word until they have a chunk, then blend the sounds together. The words are decoded one chunk at a time, then all chunks are blended together.
3. Learners will understand that many letters and groups of letters have more than one sound; they will also learn a strategy to manage that code knowledge when sounding out unfamiliar words.
4. Students will become confident, independent readers.
5. Students will learn comprehension strategies to help them better understand what they are reading.
I teach each lesson using the Phono-graphix method. I have been using this strategy with my private students for over 20 years and my students have had amazing success with it. I specialize in getting kids reading on grade level in 12 clinical hours or less.
Homework is assigned for follow-up practice on the skills taught in class.
