In this ongoing course, learners reading at a level of Q-R will get small group instruction on reading fiction and nonfiction books, developing reading strategies, fluency, comprehension, phonics, and grammar.

What's included

3 live meetings
1 hrs 15 mins in-class hours per week
Homework
1 hour per week. There will not be any homework given for this course. However, I will list additional resources on the class page such as flash cards, extra worksheets and activities, etc for learners to complete. Learners will also be able to build up their own library during this class with the books that we read.
Assessment
For learners that come back week to week, I will give a progress report at the end of the month. If you can only come for one or two sessions and would like a progress report please let me know before class begins.

Come join in this small group reading class to become a better reader!

Class Content:
  This class will be based on learners reading levels.  I will be utlizing many different ways to reach learners in a beneficial way.  Learners in this class will be taught at their level to improve their reading, comprehension, reading strategies, fluency, vocabulary, sight words, and grammar skills.  During class I will be using a researched based curriculum from reaidng a-z.  Learners will be sent a weekly book and worksheets.  
  During class we will be using a variety of learning techniques.  This class will be using auditory, visual, and kinestetic learning techniques to help learners retain as much as possible.  We will have a great time working on skills to become a better readers and comprehending what we learn.  
  This course will utlize a two day schedule weekly to make sure learners have enough time to improve their skills.  The schedule is listed below but during the week we will be working on all reading skills to improve reading, comprehension, fluency, phonics, sight words, and grammar.

Why This Class:
  I am a licensed educator and have been a teacher for 10 years.  Guided reading is where my speciality is during the school day.  I have had many years of experience and know how to grow learners levels by utilizing a variety of different teaching techniques to be able to reach all learners and help them grow by differetiating instruction.
  This course will be kept small at a max of four learners to ensure every learner gets equal time to work and share.  As an added benefit this class will cycle through 3 levels so learners will have the ability to learn extra skills or review skills.

Class Materials:
  All class materials will be shared weekly through the class page prior to class.  
  Weekly materials: Learners will need the worksheets attached as well as the paper book.  They will also need red, yellow, and green coloring materials-markers, colored pencils, colored pens.
  Week to week:  depending on the week learners will need different materials but it should all be things that you can find around your home.  These will be posted in the classroom weekly on Sunday afternoon EST.

Other Details

Learning Needs
This course will take additional time based on class dynamics (one or two days to read the story) and give background knowledge so all learners understand the topic of the week.
Parental Guidance
Please be close by off camera in case your learner needs assistance with technical issues. For some classes we may be using scissor or glue so please plan accordingly for your learner Technology in the Class: During class we may be using websites such as kahoot or abcya. If this occurs learners will need to either have another device or be able to split their screen. If they can't do that, I am happy to read the questions to them.
Pre-Requisites
Learners should have mastered second grade reading skills and currently reading on a 3rd grade level.
