Class Experience

During this ongoing individualized class, the teacher will work with the student to provide a strong piano background based on their current level. Piano is about forming confidence and excitement about music! My teaching style is very relaxed and encouraging.

Students will learn and work on note-reading, fingering, multiple hand positions, music theory, and playing several piano pieces per week.

I believe a lot in student “choice” and encourage my students to supplement their piano book repertoire with other pieces that interest them (i.e. pop music, classical, Disney, etc…). I will help provide that music for the student.

Songs and theory worksheets will be provided each week for students to download and print prior to the start of their lesson. Fifteen to twenty minutes will be spent on technique, song review, and learning new songs and musical concepts. The last part of the lesson will be spent on theory games and worksheets to ensure students fully understand the concepts being taught in their songs.

If a student is at a Level 1 or higher, parents will be responsible for ordering the books needed for the class. If a student is just beginning (primer level), the teacher will provide the materials for the first 6 weeks.
