Small Group Piano Course for Beginners, Part 2. Ages 6-9

Class Experience

In this class we continue using the 2 books by N. and R. Faber " Piano Adventures" Primer Level, 2nd edition (Lesson Book and Theory Book) and will cover units 4, 5, 6, and 7.

Units 4-7  will focus on the following:
Unit 4: The Staff, including Bass and Treble Clefs, Middle C, Treble G, Bass F .
Unit 5: Treble D-E-F, including steps on the Staff and 4/4 time signature. 
Unit 6: B below Middle C, 3/4 Time Signature, Bass A and G.
Unit 7: Skips on the Staff.

Here is a brief breakdown of what we will be learning each week:

Week  1: We will review of the first 3 units of the book, piano posture, keyboard layout, basic rhythms, and music alphabet. 
               We will learn about Grand Staff, how notes are written on lines and spaces, learn Middle C, and play "Middle C March" song. 

Week 2: We will learn Treble G and Bass F and will play "Driving in the G Clef", "Best Friends", "Gorilla in the Tree" ,and "My Invention"  
               songs.

Week 3: We will learn Treble D-E-F , Skips on the Staff, 4/4 Time Signature, and play "March on D-E-F", "Mister Bluebird", "The Dance 
             Band", and "Frogs on Logs" songs.

Week 4: We will learn B and A below Middle C, 3/4 Time signature, and play "Let's Play Ball!", "Petite Minuet", "Rodeo" and "Russian 
             Folk Song". 

Week 5: We will learn Bass G, play "Come see the Parade" song, and catch up on the previous songs and concepts. 

Week 6: We will learn about Skips on the Staff and play songs "Hey, Hey, Look at Me!", "Allegro". 

Week 7 : We will continue learning about Skips and play ""Elephant Ride" and Yankee Doodle" songs. 

Week 8: We will have a review lesson and a mini recital where students will play their favorite songs that they learned during the class for each other.

Hello! My name is Lana Doncov and I'm super excited to be part of your learning journey on Outschool. 
   I have a background in Early Childhood Education and have been teaching piano at my personal studio, Music Steps Academy, for the last 15 years.  
   I love working with all ages, especially young beginners.  I'm very passionate about sharing my love of music with others and helping them discover their inner talents.
